The Advanced Concepts subcommittee is chartered to address future directions that spacecraft and ground system design, development and associated operations might take and the impact on current approaches. The subcommittee members will identify promising new approaches to spacecraft design, space architectures, and space and support operations defined below, update the TC on current events, identify approaches to enhance space operations, and prepare and review papers on specific issues. This subcommittee will advocate effective integration of advanced concepts into space systems. For example, the selection, formation, and training of people for space operations and their interfaces with automated tools. Although improvements could be limited to certain areas of - 32 - activity, a key concept is the overall effect on the hardware, software and people that comprise a spacecraft mission. The goal is to identify and pursue advanced concepts that will increase overall mission efficiency in the end-to-end life cycle and to identify and/or assess new technologies required to make future mission concepts feasible.Â
